Important note for stays in Switzerland: Upon your first entry into Switzerland, you (as a Swiss citizen) are required to register the rental vehicle at a staffed border customs office (during customs clearance hours). This permit is valid for 8 days from the start of the rental agreement. If you (note: a Swiss citizen) use the vehicle abroad for several days first, these days will be deducted from your permit. Regardless of the 8-day period, you can use the vehicle for up to 3 days from the time you cross the border. The day of entry is not included in this calculation. Within the aforementioned period, you must either export the vehicle or return it to the rental company based in Switzerland. You must submit form 15.25 at a staffed border customs office when exporting the goods.
