This certificate is valid for 8 days from the start of the rental agreement. If you (note: a Swiss citizen) use the vehicle abroad for several days first, these days will be deducted from your pre-registration period. The customs office will issue you (note: a Swiss citizen) a pre-registration certificate (Form 15.25) for the use of the rental vehicle in Switzerland. Regardless of the 8-day period, you can use the vehicle for up to 3 days from the date of crossing the border. The day of entry is not included in this calculation. Within this timeframe, you must either re-export the vehicle or return it to the rental company based in Switzerland. Form 15.25 must be submitted to a staffed customs office upon export.
