Croatia has long been an insider tip among campers, but during the last few years, more people have become aware of the beauty of the country. Where should we even start? The coastline of Istria is simply beautiful, while the area of Kvarner down to Dalmatia impresses, just like all the small picturesque villages along the coast and the hospitable people. Even though Croatia has become more popular it doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t go there. Quite the contrary, because there is still so much to discover. Among other things, there are so many wonderful campsites that one road trip is not enough to visit them all.

1. Lanterna Premium Camping Resort

Tar, Istria

In the middle of the wooded Lanterna peninsula Istria, you will find this upscale 4-star campsite. The complex stretches along the three-kilometer-long coastline and offers pretty much everything your heart desires, especially for family holidays. In addition to the beach, you can use the pool area and the family water park. Here, you can enjoy an all-inclusive entertainment offer for all age groups, such as evening entertainment.

Do you like entertainment and do you like to be spoiled for choice? Then you’ve come to the right place at Lanterna Premium Camping Resort. The best part? Despite the big size and offers, you will find quiet, beautiful, and romantic corners here, which the impressive natural backdrop contributes to. Of course, there is more than enough space for your camper. You can choose between different locations. The standard plot has electricity, and the comfort plot also has water and, in some cases, sewage connections. Do you also like a little luxury on your camping holiday? Then we recommend the pitches Premium Mare or the Luxury Mare parcel. These are located in the first or second row of the sea and offer a lot of space, more precisely 80-100 or 100-120 square meters.

Most of us agree that camping on the beach is great. If the campsite has several beaches, that’s even better. This is the case at the Lanterna Premium Camping Resort, as there are eight of them. Furthermore, in the pool area right by the sea, you will find three different pools including water attractions. And don’t forget the Aquamar Lanterna family water park with its 10 pools, many slides, and a pirate ship. In short, it promises maximum fun in the water.

Excursion tips:

As crazy as it might seem, you can reach Venice by boat from Poreč, which is in the immediate vicinity of the campsite. Yes, we’re talking about the Italian Venice, and you’ll be there in just two and a half hours. This city fascinates you anew every time you visit it. The Grand Canal, the Rialto and the Bridge of Sighs, St. Mark’s Square, and the Doge’s Palace are just some of the many great sights of the Italian port city.

Camping in Croatia: not exactly cheap, but incredibly beautiful

Croatia is the third most expensive camping destination in Europe. Why? Most of the places here are right by the sea and in addition to the excellent location, you also get a comprehensive range of services.

Food, on the other hand, is inexpensive. A visit to the restaurant is much cheaper than in many other parts of Europe. You can often get a pizza here for just under five euros. Also on the cheap side: gasoline prices.

2. Camping Mon Perin

Bale, Istria

In Istria, between Rovinji and Pula, is Camping Mon Perin. The place attaches great importance to sustainability, which is reflected in its own farm. Mon Perin is large, which is shown in the 700 pitches available here. Still, there’s nothing hectic over this place. Instead, the atmosphere is authentic and relaxed and the staff is hospitable. A place of well-being.

SpecialtiesCamping with its own farm

Are you looking for a really special campsite? Then you will like Mon Perin. Here you will find the perfect mix of nature, adventure, and enjoyment. Thanks to the versatility of the campsite, you can design your camping holiday to your wishes. Let’s start with the parking spaces. Comfort, Mega Comfort, Premium Mare, Luxury Mare? Does all of them sound great? They are, and which type you’ll get the most out of depends on whether you prefer being directly by the sea or in the lush, Mediterranean nature. All pitches have water and electricity connections, and of course, modern and nice sanitary facilities are included. The price also includes countless services such as a panoramic train, shared barbecue, cinema under the stars, or the opportunity to get vegetables from the communal garden for free.

The facility is huge and that is also its big advantage, as it means that you will find quiet corners to relax in as well as areas full of action and entertainment. As a guest, you also have free access to Paleo Park – an amusement park that takes you on a journey through time. The park is located near an archaeological site and is both a water amusement park and a dinosaur-themed educational park. If you need more action, then you’ve several other options as well; table tennis, boccia, mini golf, diving, windsurfing, horse riding, cycling, hiking… The list is almost endless. The camping fun is almost endless.

Excursion tips:

Bale, the village that can be reached from Camping Mon Perin by panoramic train, is really worth a visit. The yellow stone, from which many of the houses here are built, is the same stone from which the large churches and palaces in Venice were built in the 18th century. Stroll through the alleys, drink a coffee, and treat yourself to the typical local dishes. This is Croatia as it lives and breathes.

It’s a memorable experience to roll around in the black mud in one of the small pools and then let it dry on your body, for young and old alike. But the island also offers a lot else. Several historic old towns, a large nature park, and the monastery island Košljun ensure that you definitely won’t get bored in and around Krk.

Camp Kargita doesn’t have a pool, but honestly, if you have this beach right in front of your camper door, then you don’t need it. In addition to swimming fun, you can also spend your time here diving, climbing, trekking, or fishing. Or why not rent a bike at the campsite? Organized excursions are also highly recommended, for example to the Kornati National Park or Telašćica.
