Northern Norway offers a dramatic landscape with high mountains, deep fjords, and magical nature experiences. Pluscamp Saltstraumen Camping is a year-round campsite with around 80 pitches for caravans and mobile homes, with electricity in most of the pitches. The campsite has a newly renovated service facility with showers and toilets in separate rooms, as well as several family bathrooms. In addition to places for camping vehicles, there are cabins and apartments available to rent.
When camping near Saltströmmen, you should of course not miss experiencing adventurous activities at sea. The campsite offers boat trips on the tidal current Saltströmmen, and nearby, you can try diving, snorkeling, fishing, or perhaps a fast-paced trip with a rib boat. You can of course also go hiking in nature, where you will find everything from challenging top tours to trails adapted for wheelchairs.
From Pluscamp Saltstraumen Camping, you can make an excursion to the pleasant town of Bodø, where you will find shops, restaurants, and a rich concert scene. You can also stroll in the harbor, check out the exciting street art on the city’s walls, visit the Norwegian Aviation Museum or maybe try a flight simulator at the Newton Flight Academy.
Saltströmmen, which is the world’s strongest tidal current, occurs when tides move between two fjords and it can reach a speed of around 40 km/h. The current is so strong that ships can only pass at certain times of the day, about two hours after each ebb and flow. Going out by boat at other times of the day can be associated with danger to life.
Lofoten Beach Camp is beautifully located in Lofoten, which is one of the most popular destinations in Norway. This region offers stunning views, while also being known for its charming little fishing villages.

Lofoten Beach Camp is perfect for those who want to enjoy beautiful views in combination with sporty outdoor activities. The campsite is located in the middle of western Lofoten and is a perfect base for discovering the most popular attractions in the area. Motorhomes, campervans, and caravans as well as tents are welcome at the campsite. Services are available in the form of toilets, showers, accessible bathrooms, and washing machines. You do also have the possibility to wash dishes and charge electric cars. There is also a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as cold drinks, cocktails, snacks, and pastries. For example, you can try their popular “Beach Taco”.
If you want to hang out at the campsite for a day or two, there are plenty of activities to choose from. The campsite has a big focus on surfing and yoga, while also offering many other activities, such as kayaking, SUP (Stand Up Paddle Board), slackline, volleyball, and barbeque on the beach. You can also go hiking or rent a bike to discover the fantastic nature of Lofoten.
As it is not possible to book a place at the campsite, it is recommended to arrive early in the day, and no later than 6 pm, to secure a place.
Not only does Lofoten offer nature, but also culture and history. There are, for example, plenty of art galleries, such as Kaviar Factory in Henningsvær. If you are interested in Viking history, you should not miss the Lofotr Viking Museum in Bøstad.
Fjordbotn Camping is located by the Stønesbotn fjord on the northern part of the island of Senja in Northern Norway. From here, you have a good starting point for exploring the whole of Senja with its wild and beautiful nature. The island offers dramatic mountains, fantastic viewpoints, white beaches, and rich animal and bird life.

At Fjordbotn Camping, there are a total of 55 places for motorhomes and caravans, of which 40 places are drop-in places. Most of the pitches have access to electricity. The campsite has a fresh service facility, and there is also a shared kitchen with a dining room and barbecue area, kiosk, and nice picnic areas.
The campsite is perfect for anyone who wants to experience the magical northern Norwegian nature, with high mountains, green hiking trails, and white beaches. For example, you can go hiking or biking, and if you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one at the campsite. At the campsite, you can also rent a boat and go on a fishing trip. The outer side of Senja has offered good fishing for centuries. Here you can catch cod, pollock, halibut, haddock, turbot, sole, salmon, or sea trout. March and April are the best time for cod, while summer and autumn offer better opportunities to get pollock on the hook.
There are many ways to experience nature at Senja. In addition to hiking, biking, and fishing, you can try some more challenging activities such as climbing or diving. If you visit Senja in winter, you can go skiing or try snowshoeing.
Senja is Norway’s next largest island and lies far north of the polar circle. In the summer, there are good chances of seeing the midnight sun and in the winter, you can see the northern lights.
Tromsø Lodge & Camping is beautifully located in the northern Norwegian nature, just a stone’s throw from Northern Norway’s largest city, Tromsø. In this part of Norway, the northern lights can be seen from September to March, while the midnight sun can be experienced between May 20 and June 20.

Tromsø Lodge & Camping is surrounded by magnificent mountains, at the same time as you can hear the water from the Tromsedal River rushing by. There are roughly 50 year-round pitches for motorhomes and caravans, with electricity at all pitches, and in the summer another 30 pitches are opened, without electricity. In the new service building, there are toilets, showers, a kitchen, a sauna, and laundry. The campsite also has a restaurant that offers breakfast and lunch on weekdays.
Tromsø Lodge & Camping has an excellent location, both for experiencing the beautiful nature and for exploring the city of Tromsø. The area offers fantastic opportunities for outdoor activities in the form of hiking, fishing, kayaking, and whale watching. If you want to get a bit of a city pulse instead, it only takes five minutes to drive to Tromsø by car. If you choose to walk into the city, you can count on half an hour.
During the summer, there is a high demand for places for motorhomes and caravans, and therefore, it is recommended to book a place in advance. Booking can be made online, via email, or on the phone.
In Tromsø, you can check out the Arctic Cathedral, the experience center Polaria, and the Polar Museum, in which you get to discover the local fishing industry, arctic science, and polar expeditions. If you’re here at the right time, you can also experience the Tromsø International Film Festival or the Northern Lights Festival, both of which attract an international audience.
Altafjord Camping is located deep into the Langfjorden and has an excellent location for fishing and nature experiences. The area is also known for its spectacular northern lights, and between May and August, you can also experience the midnight sun here.

At Altafjord Camping, there is space for 70 mobile homes and caravans. All the pitches are located with a view of the fjord, while being close to the service building, in which you will find toilets, showers, and a washing machine, among other things. In the service building, there is also a sauna, which you can book one hour in advance. For children, there is a playground, as well as a lounge with table tennis, billiards, and darts.
The Langfjord is full of fish, such as cod and haddock, so if you like fishing, you’ve come to the right place. The campsite has several different boats that you can hire for the fishing trip, and it is also possible to fish directly from the pier. The campsite also works well as a starting point for hiking tours in the beautiful landscape, among mountains and rivers. When you’re at the campsite, you can also visit the campsite’s farm museum, in which you get to discover the area’s historical agriculture.
If you visit Altafjord Camping during the summer, you can make an excursion to the rock carvings in Hjemmeluft, which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List. If you want to learn even more about petroglyphs and their history, you shouldn’t miss the Alta Museum either.
If you are traveling in a small group during high season, with one or a few camping vehicles, you do not need to book a place in advance, you can just drop in. However, if you are traveling during the low season, or if you are a larger group, it is recommended to contact the campsite in advance via email.
BaseCamp North Cape has an excellent location when you want to visit “Nordkapsklippan” (the North Cape Rock) at Europe’s northernmost point. The cliff, which plunges straight into the sea, is 307 meters high and when you stand here, there is nothing between you and the North Pole, except Svalbard.

BaseCamp North Cape, formerly known as Kirkeporten Camping, is located in Skarsvåg, the northernmost fishing village in the world, just a few minutes from North Cape. The campsite has around 40 pitches for motorhomes and caravans, with electricity at all pitches, as well as cabins and tent pitches. There is also a well-functioning service building with toilets and showers, a laundry room, and a kitchen. In addition, there is a restaurant that serves local dishes made from, for example, fish, king crab, and reindeer meat.
Starting from the campsite, you can of course visit Nordkapsklippan, but also go on hikes, try fishing for king crab yourself, or visit charming small fishing villages. You can also see a lot of birds, such as puffins, soles, and cormorants. Last but not least, don’t forget to enjoy the silence of this remote part of Europe.
Drive carefully! Keep in mind that you can meet reindeer on the roads at any time when you drive in Northern Norway.
You can hike to Kirkeporten, nature’s own triumphal arch, which offers an impressive window out onto the North Cape Plateau. If you can handle a slightly more demanding hike, you can head towards Knivskjellodden, which technically is Europe’s most northerly point.
