Mellbystrands Camping is a family campsite in southern Halland, with cabins and nice places for motorhomes and caravans. In addition to regular services for campers, the campsite has a shop, restaurant, pizzeria, and a popular ice cream bar with homemade Riccardo ice cream.
The fine sandy beach is 12 kilometers long and stretches all the way from Båstad in the south to Halmstad in the north. On the beach, you can of course sunbathe and swim, or perhaps rent a SUP board. If you want to be more active, there are many activities to choose from, such as mini golf, football pool, and shuffleboard, as well as children’s activities with the mascot Melle. There are also several different cycle paths, and in the Hökafältet nature reserve, you will find jogging tracks covering different distances. Near the campsite, there is also the opportunity to play padel, drive a Go-cart, or try summer tobogganing and zipline in Kungsbygget’s adventure park.
From Mellbystrands Camping, you can make an excursion to Båstad. Once a year, the Tennis Week is arranged here, but Båstad is a pleasant town with sea views and cozy restaurants during other times of the year as well. Nearby, you can visit the Birgit Nilsson Museum, which tells the story of the world-famous opera singer’s life. Close by, you’ll also find Norrviken Gardens, where you can stroll among fantastic plantings.
Just north of the campsite you will find Hökafältet’s nudist beach. Guests at the campsite who wish to bathe naked must show consideration for other guests and wear clothing inside the campsite area.
First Camp Hagön – Halmstad is located along the eastern beach in Halmstad, which is a long sandy beach with soft, fine-grained sand. The campsite is ideal for hanging out on the beach while being close to Halmstad’s inner city, which offers opportunities for shopping, restaurants, and entertainment.

First Camp Hagön – Halmstad is a modern and well-maintained family camping with cabins and over 500 camping pitches for motorhomes, caravans, and tents, of which the vast majority are equipped with electrical sockets. Additionally, there are a number of asphalted RV sites intended for drop-in guests. There are a total of four service houses, which in addition to toilets and showers are also equipped with changing rooms, laundry rooms, and kitchens. At one of the service houses, there is also a dog shower.
The campsite has both a restaurant and an ice cream kiosk, as well as a shop with the essentials during a camping holiday. If you get tired of the beach and swimming, there is a wide range of activities, such as mini golf, exercise programs, entertainment, and the possibility to rent a bicycle. For the children, there is also a TV room, playroom, playground, and jumping pillow. During the high season, many different children’s activities led by leaders are arranged.
When you stay at First Camp Hagön – Halmstad, you will, of course, want to take the opportunity to explore the summer town of Halmstad. There, you will find many cozy outdoor restaurants, several interesting art museums, and no less than eight golf courses. From Halmstad, you can also take a ferry to Grenå in Denmark, meaning taking the opportunity to discover the neighboring country during an excursion.

Vilshärads Camping is located along the lovely west coast in Halland, about one mile from the nice summer town of Halmstad. This is a slightly smaller, family-owned campsite where you can enjoy a kilometer-long sandy beach and a large nature reserve.

Vilshärads Camping has spots for those who travel with a motorhome or caravan, or who choose to pitch a tent. At the campsite, there is a service center and a small shop where you can find, among other things, some gifts and food items, with a focus on locally produced ingredients. During the high season, they also offer breakfast bags and freshly baked rolls. There is also an ice cream cafe with ice cream from SIA Glass, made in the nearby town of Slöinge.
The campsite is next to a long lovely sandy beach, and it is also close to the Haverdal nature reserve, which is full of spectacular trees that for sure will get your imagination going. Although the campsite is not that big, there is a range of different activities to occupy yourself with, such as mini golf, boule, and outdoor chess. At the ice cream café, you can also rent bikes, tandem bikes, and SUP boards.
There is much to see and discover around Vilshärads Camping. When going south, for example, you can visit the popular summer destination Tylösand, with its active nightlife. If you choose to go a bit north instead, you can visit Svedino’s Automobile and Aviation Museum. The campsite is also close to Halmstad, which, among other things, offers art experiences and golf courses.
Most motorhome and caravan pitches are on grass, where you either back in or stand along a hedge. There are also specific spots for motorhomes where you can only have sun blinds, but no awnings. The reason for this is that you want to try to keep the green grass green.
Haverdals Camping is a cozy and family-friendly campsite near Haverdal’s beach on the west coast, about 1.5 miles north of Halmstad. There are places for caravans and motorhomes, both small and big ones. During the summer months, many activities are arranged for the whole family.

At Haverdals Camping, there are caravan and motorhome pitches on grass, as well as asphalt pitches outside the campsite boom, which are also easily accessible for late arrivals. During high season, there is a small shop that has freshly baked bread in the mornings and Virvla’s café, which serves coffee, ice cream, and simple meals. Four-legged friends are especially welcome at the campsite. There is a dog yard, dog shower, nice walking loops, agility obstacles, and places by the beach where also pets can take a bath.
At Haverdals Camping, there is a nice adventure golf course with 12 holes. There are also many other activities for children and adults, such as yoga, fishing, a children’s club, and an inflatable castle. In addition, there are many nice areas to discover around the campsite. For example, you can hike in the Haverdal nature reserve, climb one of Scandinavia’s highest sand dunes, or perhaps discover the trail Trollstigen or the rock Jättestuan.

One and a half kilometers south of central Varberg, next to the beautiful west coast, you will find Destination Apelviken. This holiday gem has, among other things, a large campsite, a lovely swimming pool, lots of activities, two restaurants, and a hotel.

Destination Apelviken is more than just a campsite, but if you want to camp, there are plenty of places for motorhomes and caravans, as well as all the services you need. In the area, there is a well-stocked grocery store and a popular ice cream café. There are also two restaurants, one with wood-oven pizza and à la carte, and another that is right by the pool which, among other things, serves breakfast.
The campsite is perfect for those who want plenty of activities to choose from. There is a large, lovely pool that is open from May to September, as well as a small splash pool for the very little ones. There is also a surf center, where you can take a course in windsurfing. Additional activities include mini golf, exercise, and a hot tub. If you want to discover the beautiful surrounding area, you can rent a bicycle or electric bicycle, or perhaps go on a hiking trip.
In Varberg, you don’t want to miss checking out Varberg’s fortress. The building was originally erected at the end of the 13th century, and has since been rebuilt several times. Here, bloody battles have Fee place between Swedes and Danes, and you can really feel the presence of history. The fortress also houses Halland’s cultural history museum, with several interesting exhibitions.
In the summer, you can go from the campsite to the dock Sjöallén, near the center of Varberg, with the small train Strandtåget (meaning “The Beach Train”). There is also a regular bus that runs between the campsite and the center, with a journey time of just under ten minutes.
Gekåsbyn Ullared offers the option of camping with a motorhome, caravan, or tent on a large campsite surrounded by green nature. From the campsite, you are close to the large department store Gekås Ullared, which is immensely popular for shopping.

Gekåsbyn Ullared has space for more than 300 caravans and motorhomes, on a large camping site located just south of the department store. The pitches are up to a hundred square meters in size and mostly have gravel as a surface, although there are also some pitches on grass. In the area, there are modern service houses with all the facilities you need, including a kitchen and laundry room. When booking, you can choose whether you want a spot with or without electricity. There is also the option of staying at one of the area’s two pitches, one without electricity, and one with or without electricity.
The campsite serves as an excellent starting point for shopping in the enormous department store Gekås Ullared. The department store is Sweden’s largest visitor destination, with approximately 4.8 million visitors each year. Here, you will find everything from fashion and beauty products to interior design, kitchen equipment, tools, and toys. Additionally, there are a number of different restaurants and cafés in the store. You’ll need a few hours to go through the entire department store!
Most people who go to Gekåsbyn Ullared do so just to shop in the department store, but if you want to see something else, there is actually a UNESCO world heritage right nearby: Grimeton Radio Station. It’s an interesting destination with an exhibition, guided tours, and an exciting playground. If you then want to continue the journey east, you will find many nice campsites in Småland.
When booking, you choose between the 100/200 area and the 300 area. The 100/200 area is closest to the department store. The 300 area is a little further from the department store, but closer to nature and nice walking paths. As the spots vary in size, you must state the vehicle type and length at the time of booking.
