Reissailussa on paljon liikkuvia osia. Vaikka Hymer on helppokäyttöinen ja osa seuraavista itsestäänselvyyksiä, alla olennaiset vinkit sujuvaan reissuun.
Ohjeet on jaoteltu erikseen 1) yleisiin, 2) auton käyttöön ja 3) asuinosan käyttöön. Vilkaise myös loppusiivousohjeet.
Jos tulee kysyttävää, kurkkaa ohjeet ja jos niistä ei löydy, laita viestiä. Autan aina parhaani mukaan.
Koontina kuitenkin: aja varovasti, älä tohella, nauti lomasta ja siivoa jäljet. 😎
1) Yleistä
Vain Suomi-reissuille. Muut sovittava erikseen.
Noudatathan aina lainsäädäntöä, vuokrauksen ehtoja ja hyviä tapoja leiriytyessä.
Kuormaus: Jos tulee törmäys, kaikki autossa irti oleva voi tulla niskaan. Pakkaa siis niin, että irtotavarat ovat kaapeissa tai johonkin kiinnitettynä (irrota myös pöytä kaappiin). Muista myös, että suurin sallittu massa 3500kg kattaa kaiken autossa reissussa mukana olevan.
Ajaessa, tankatessa ja sisätiloissa kaasut aina KIINNI.
Palo-/häkävaroitin toimii paristolla ja kaasuvaroitin sähköllä. Kannattaa käyttää. Kaasuvaroitin pitää kovan äänen kun siihen kytketään virrat, vaimenna alkuääni tarvittaessa tyynyllä.
2) Auton käyttö:
Paras matkanopeus on max 95 km/h. Jos ajat lujempaa, polttoainemittari laskee silmissä ja tuuli alkaa ottaa autoon.
Hymeriin tankataan dieseliä.
Autossa on peruutuskamera, mutta siitä näkee parhaiten auton takana liikkeessä olevat kohteet. Tarkista etäisyydet ja kuolleet kulmat ja pyydä tarvittaessa apuri ohjaamaan.
Vaikka auto kääntyy näppärästi ja mahtuu pieneen tilaan, se on 3,15 m korkea. Tällä et mahdu perusparkkihalleihin, autokaistalle etkä matalampien siltojen ja räystäiden alle.
Pimennysverhot on vanhat ja uudet maksaa rahaa. Älä riuhdo.
3) Asuinosan käyttö:
Kun auton parkkaa mahdollisimman vaakasuoraan, risotto pysyy lautasella ja nukkuessa ei mene veri päähän. Käytä tarvittaessa ajokiiloja apuna.
12V virran pääkytkin sijaitsee eteisessä oven sisäpuolella vasemmalla, naulakon vieressä. Jos jokin ei toimi, varmista ensin että pääkytkin on päällä ja valo palaa.
Tästä näet myös, kun auto on kytketty 230V verkkovirtaan. Kun lähdet leiristä, muista irrottaa sähköjohto tolpasta ja pakkaa ajokiilat takaisin mukaan. Molemmat on yllättävän helppo unohtaa.
Eteisen paneelista voit myös tarkistaa raikasvesi- ja harmaavesisäiliön täyttöasteen.
Ajaessa kaasut aina KIINNI. Sulut löytyvät keittiön alakaapista. Sulje parkissakin kaasut laitteilta, joita et käytä.
Jääkaappi kylmenee ajossa 12V akkuvirralla, parkissa verkkovirralla tai kaasulla.
Liesi ja uuni toimivat kaasulla. Kannattaa avata ikkunaa kun kokkailee, kokki ja liesi saa paremmin happea.
Sisätilan lämmitys toimii kaasulla, ja siinä on termostaatti. Kytke ohjaamosta ilmastointi sisäkierrolle. Lämmityksen säätö löytyy keittiön seinästä. Kesällä Suomessa matkaillessa yllättävän usein ei kuitenkaan tarvitse lämmittää.
Käyttöveden lämmitys toimii kaasulla. Täytä ensin boileri laskemalla vettä hanasta asennossa kuuma punainen, kunnes vesi ei enää kupli, ja lämmitä boilerillinen käyttämällä säädintä keittiön seinässä. Käytännössä lämmintä vettä tulee kuitenkin yhdellä lämmityksellä vain vähän, lämmitys ottaa aikaa ja syö kaasu – ja ilmankin pärjää käytännössä aina.
ÄLÄ kaada kiehuvaa vettä lavuaariin, putket voivat vääntyä, mistä voi tulla vesivahinko, mikä maksaa rahaa.
Hupiakku latautuu ajossa ja auton ollessa kytkettynä verkkovirtaan. Perussäästeliäällä käytöllä virtaa riittää hyvin ainakin pari päivää. Jotta akussa riittää varausta myös puskaparkeissa, sammuta valot ja napsauta hupiakku ON/OFF-kytkimestä pois päältä (siis akusta, ei pelkkää jatkojohtoa!), kun et käytä.
Pöytä kootaan ja puretaan manuaalisesti jalasta ja pöytälevystä. Sohva levitetään pujottamalla sormi sokkaan, painamalla alaspäin ja vetämällä samalla istuinta selkänojasta toista penkkiä kohti. Suljetaan työntämällä kunnes naksahtaa. Sänky lasketaan kahvasta kääntämällä ja nostetaan kahvasta kääntämällä ja työntämällä ylös nivelen kohdalta takaisin telineisiin kunnes naksahtaa.
Kaikki ikkunat aukeavat ja niissä on pimennysverhot ja ötökkäverkot. Älä riuhdo. Muista sulkea (myös kattoikkunat) kun et ole autossa tai lähdet ajamaan! Tai alkaa sataa, koska sade on sisällä märkää. Tökkää myös askelma sisään kun lähdet liikkeelle.
Kaasupullo vaihdetaan peräkontista oikealta. Pääsulku sijaitsee pullon yhteydessä. Autossa ei ole automaattivaihtajaa, mutta mukaan mahtuu kaksi 10kg komposiittipulloa. Noudata autolautoilla kaasupulloista annettuja ohjeita.

Road trips have a lot of moving parts. Even though the Hymer is easy to use and some of the following may be obvious, below are the essential tips for a smooth trip.
The instructions are divided into 1) general notes, 2) vehicle use, and 3) living-area use. Also take a look at the final cleaning instructions.

In short: drive carefully, don’t mess about, enjoy the holiday, and clean up after yourself. 😎
1. General
For trips within Finland only. Other destinations must be agreed separately.
Please always follow the law, the rental terms, and good camping etiquette.
Loading: In the event of a collision, anything loose in the vehicle can come flying at you. Pack so that loose items are in cupboards or otherwise secured (also put the table away in the cupboard). Also remember that the maximum permitted mass of 3500 kg includes everything you take with you on the trip.
When driving, refueling, and inside the vehicle, keep all gas valves CLOSED.
The fire/carbon monoxide alarm runs on batteries and the gas alarm runs on electricity. It is worth using. The gas alarm makes a loud noise when power is connected; if needed, mute it with a pillow while it lasts.
1. Vehicle use
The best cruising speed is max 95 km/h. If you drive faster, the fuel gauge will drop before your eyes and the wind will start to catch the vehicle.
The Hymer runs on diesel.
The vehicle has a reversing camera, but it mainly shows objects moving behind the vehicle. Check distances and blind spots, and if needed ask someone to guide you.
Although the vehicle turns neatly and fits into a small space, it is 3.15 m high. You will not fit in standard parking garages, drive-ins, or under lower bridges and eaves.
The blackout curtains are old and replacements cost money. Don’t yank them.
1. Living-area use
When the vehicle is parked as level as possible, the risotto stays on the plate and you won’t get a head rush while sleeping. Use levelling ramps if needed.
The main 12V power switch is located inside the entrance on the left, next to the coat rack. If something does not work, first make sure the main switch is on (= light is on).
From here you can also see when the vehicle is properly connected to 230V mains power. When leaving the campsite, remember to unplug the power cable from the post and pack the levelling ramps back in. Both are surprisingly easy to forget.
From the hallway panel you can also check the fill level of the fresh water and grey water tanks.
When driving, keep all gas valves CLOSED. The shut-off valves are in the lower kitchen cabinet. Even when parked, close the gas for any appliances you are not using.
The fridge cools while driving on 12V battery power, and when parked on mains power or gas.
The stove and oven run on gas. It’s a good idea to open a window when cooking, so the cook and the stove get more oxygen.
The interior heating runs on gas and has a thermostat. Switch the cab air conditioning to recirculation. The heating control is on the kitchen wall. In summer road trips in Finland, though, you often won’t need heating at all.
Hot water also runs on gas. First fill the boiler by running hot water from the tap in the hot/red position until the water no longer bubbles, then heat a boilerful using the control on the kitchen wall. In practice, though, one heating gives only a little hot water, heating takes time and uses gas — and you can usually manage fine without it.
DO NOT pour boiling water into the sink; the pipes can warp, which can cause water damage, which costs money.
The leisure battery charges while driving and when the vehicle is connected to mains power. With normal careful use, the power will easily last at least a couple of days. To keep enough charge for off-grid camping, turn off the lights and switch the leisure battery off with the ON/OFF switch (that’s in the battery itself, not just the extension cord!) when you are not using it.
The table is assembled and disassembled manually from the leg and tabletop. The sofa bed is unfolded by threading a finger through the latch, pressing downward, and at the same time pulling the seat toward the other bench by the backrest. It is closed by pushing until it clicks. The bed is lowered by turning the handle and raised by turning the handle and pushing up at the joint back into the brackets until it clicks.
All windows open and have blackout curtains and insect screens. Don’t yank them. Remember to close them (including the roof windows) when you are not in the vehicle or when you are about to drive off. Or when it starts to rain, since rain is wet indoors. Also tuck the door step in before you set off.
The gas bottle is changed from the rear right side in the trunk. The main shut-off valve is on the bottle itself. The vehicle does not have an automatic changeover system, but it can take two 10 kg composite bottles. Follow the instructions given for gas bottles on ferry crossings.
